The space between
MA is the invisible, essential element that measures time and space in between. Its Japanese symbol combines a door 門 and the sun 日. Together, these two characters depict a door through the crevice of which sunlight peeps in. A door that is open to light, thus enabling growth, sparking creativity, permitting freedom and a moment of possibility where unlimited power unveils and a story begins.
This is MA. The space between the edges, between the beginning and the end, filled with nothing but energy and feeling. MA is something that relates to all aspects of life. It's the intentional empty space that holds as much importance as the rest of an artwork, inviting the viewer to focus on the subject and allowing interpretation.
It's the momentary pause in speech that bridges words, making them meaningful, and the silence in between the notes that makes music. It's the space and trust between the chef and his guests in this omakase bar that we tune this MA experience.
